Sled building – The popular winter team event in the snow

Sled building – Reaching the goal together

In teams of 8 to 10 people, the construction of a sled and its test run is carried out within a set time limit. Each group has the same material and tools at its disposal. It is allowed to tinker, hammer, glue, cut and saw until the finished sled is tested for its roadworthiness after a safety check in a premiere. Only the most roadworthy, creative and economical design will be crowned the winner.

Sled building with hammer and nail or maybe with glue? With wood, skis, car tires, upholstery, wire mesh, paper or cardboard? Don’t forget, only the most roadworthy, creative and economical vehicle can be crowned the winner.

With the company currency, the individual teams can buy or bargain for further material in the “store”. For larger wood cuts, the professional is ready to assist in the “service workshop”. Once the sled has been built, it’s time to get behind the flag in the “Painting Shop”. Because: a team flag may not be missing a sled team.

The excitement increases even more when the sleds are finally constructed and subjected to a strict safety check. Do all the constructions pass this safety check?

Those who have passed the safety check can get ready when it’s: On your marks – get set – go. Finally, the sleds will be tested for their driving ability during a joint descent over a snow ramp. The winner is the team that has constructed the most rideable, creative and economical sled.
